Federal chain – operating since 2011
Why is chip tuning (power increase) needed, and how does it differ from the factory firmware?

The engine’s built-in durability allows it to operate more efficiently without additional wear – this is why the factory “unlocked” program from the manufacturer is needed, where the engine’s potential is safely maximized, or an improved, carefully calibrated firmware is installed in the ECU as a result of chip tuning, following factory standards for reliability and longevity.

POWER SOURCE uses only proven software technologies in the field of ECU reprogramming.

Is it possible to reduce fuel consumption while performing chip tuning (increasing power)?

Yes, it is possible! By unlocking the engine’s potential and optimizing it with software, we achieve a more balanced, fuel-efficient, and well-coordinated operation with the automatic transmission (gearbox).

And what about “boxes” – tuning boxes?

Proper software chip tuning from the POWER SOURCE studio means fine-tuning the ECU’s operation to be as close as possible to factory parameters, making changes to more than 50 engine calibrations while considering changes in operating modes, fuel quality, and climatic conditions – for example, ignition timing, fuel injection, turbo pressure, and many others.

Installing tuning boxes does not deliver such a precise and comprehensive tuning effect, although it does affect throttle pedal behavior and other parameters. Actual changes in engine performance depend on the specific model of the “box” and the method of its installation.

Is chip tuning safe for my car?

Absolutely! We strive to use and implement factory solutions supplied for other markets with hardware and software similar to ours, where the engine’s potential is unlocked much more than for our market. This way, we avoid reinventing the wheel and preserve engine longevity after the power increase procedure.

We use only certified firmware from foreign developers. All of them have been thoroughly tested in operation, refined by engineers down to the smallest details, and designed to completely eliminate the possibility of exceeding the engine’s power or durability limits.

That is why we can guarantee that chip tuning from POWER SOURCE is 100% safe for your car.

Will I lose my dealer warranty if I increase my car’s power?

No, you will not lose your warranty.

Technically, chip tuning does not involve modifying the car’s structure: it is a software adjustment of the engine control unit (ECU) calibrations or a complete replacement of the ECU software with a factory program but with increased power. No hardware modifications are made during the flashing process, so using chip tuning cannot affect your warranty status. Detecting that a car has been flashed is extremely difficult—it requires special equipment that service centers rarely use. In such cases, we can preserve the original firmware number. Before visiting a dealer for a warranty claim, the program can be fully reverted to the factory version. Moreover, many official dealers also offer chip tuning services—but the choice of whom to trust with your car is yours.

Is it possible to restore the factory firmware, or is chip tuning permanent?

Yes! You can always restore your car’s ECU to the factory firmware. Before any vehicle is flashed, your original program is always saved, and only then are further power modifications carried out.

What are the dangers of “garage” tuning?

Small, makeshift workshops offering chip tuning services are very common today. Their services are cheap, but such a choice can easily ruin your car. Their work is not tailored individually for each vehicle but is done on an assembly-line basis, without any guarantees.

Unfortunately, such makeshift firmware can affect critically important engine parameters, which may impact its longevity. We recommend using only experienced workshops with good references and extensive experience in this field.

What is factory firmware?

Car manufacturers are forced to limit engine power to comply with strict environmental regulations, tax restrictions, and their own marketing goals. Additionally, they cannot predict the climate, fuel quality, or driving style in which the car will be used, so the factory firmware incorporates an “average” operating mode for the vehicle.
